Juche is hardly working out for North Korea is it?

I agree, of course, that the CAP is a scandalous waste of money.Tim Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03705980028580424584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21724748.post-16068902294754191602007-08-06T10:48:00.000+01:002007-08-06T10:48:00.000+01:00Its nice that you link to an article on CiF but no...Its nice that you link to an article on CiF but not that you fail to contribute any analysis yourslef. If you read the extensive comments following the article you'll see what a stupid idea self-reliance is.
Eg:

"Why don't we move towards self-reliance?"

-Because we haven't been "self-reliant" since the 19th century and because we would need to "lose" 30 odd million people in order to achieve it now?

The point is that our current agricultural policy is a farce. Paying farmers to not farm their land is the height of crass idiocy. Either let it return to nature or farm it and farm it sustainably. No other option should be considered (eg. build 350 Barrett shoeboxes on it and sell them for £300,000 each.)punksciencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05322481220029985750noreply@blogger.com
